PetuniaPetunia is an American born project, conceived April 1, 2004 & delivered September 2004. A place where fashion, design, good intentions, and chic meet people of the world: everyone is free to redesign their home image, by combining styles, periods and traditions.

 

PetuniaPetunia specializes in the design and creation of high quality, hand knitted & crocheted accessories and baby bed linens.

 

Alessandra Lopez-Kiely, the Founder & Designer has worked for well known names of footwear, accessories such as Joan & David/Calvin Klein, JCrew, & Brooks Brothers and home furnishing companies such as ABC Carpet & Home, Martha Stewart, The Wedding List & Sferra. She learned many important business details as well as product knowledge from the best in the business. She felt it was time to launch an innovative collection of whimsical-chic baby items based on previous gift buying experiences. "Being swept away by color & being a kid at heart I wanted to offer graphic icons with a vigorous use of color; since most baby items I found in the market place offer the typical 'baby color palette' of pale muted colors, its so vanilla!  So I searched back to my Puerto Rican heritage & childhood growing up in Coral Gables, FL in the 70's. What a colorful & interesting time it was for me & my two older brothers. I am fortunate that my mother saved many of the beautiful items we all grew up with so that I could really reach back into time to create my first of many collections."

 

Our Name...

"Petunia " seemed to perfectly symbolize our objectives...Creative, playful & every time you turn around there is a new bloom on the vine. The second "Petunia" is a pet name given to Alessandra by her mother as a child and still evokes memories of comfort, warmth and home. We built this business to be interesting, creative, enjoyable and slightly unpredictable...and thus "PetuniaPetunia" was born April 1st, 2004.

 

PetuniaPetunia searches out the highest quality textiles and teams them with an eclectic use of color, texture and pattern. Each collection is designed & produced in the United States, Europe, and Women’s Cooperatives in South America using the finest cashmere, tanguis & pima cottons, alpaca, baby alpaca and pure Egyptian cotton.
